Celebrate from April 1 to April 30.

April is National Poetry Month, and the City is gearing up for a series of poetic events and workshops across Mississauga. These will spark your imagination and ignite your passion for poetry.

Mississauga’s 7th Annual Poetry Slam

Thursday, April 23, 2026 | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Hazel McCallion Library – Noel Ryan Auditorium

Watch our young literary talents in the community perform poetry and spoken word original submissions. Interested artists are invited to complete a submission package by April 16 to be considered to perform in the Poetry Slam.

In celebration of Poetry Month, Mississauga’s Poets Laureate will lead a Poetry and Performance workshop before inviting poets to the stage.

Collage Poetry Workshop

Thursday, April 9, 2026 | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Living Arts Centre – Gallery Studio

Join the City of Mississauga’s Youth Poet Laureate Tahira Rajwani in exploring the world of collage poetry. Compose your own poem through assembling and arranging existing text from magazines and newspapers to create a visual poetry piece.

Poetry and Paint

Thursday, April 16, 2026 | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Living Arts Centre – Gallery Studio

Join the City of Mississauga’s Poet Laureate Andrea Josic for an evening of guided poetry and painting. Participants will be led through a series of brief, beginner-friendly writing exercises, followed by a painting session to create images inspired by their words.

Odes Workshop

Thursday, April 30, 2026 | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Living Arts Centre – Screening Room

Join Mississauga’s Youth Poet Laureate for a Poetry Workshop focused on odes inspired by the people, places or things we hold dear. This workshop will consist of a poetry writing and an optional sharing portion.
