International Women’s Day (IWD) is Friday, March 8, and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
The theme for 2024 is #InspireInclusion.
Mississauga is an inclusive and welcoming city, supporting all women and celebrating their achievements. The City recognizes International Women’s Day through special events and programs.
Mississauga’s 50th Anniversary
In 2024, the City of Mississauga celebrates its 50th anniversary. Over the past 50 years, women have played a leading role in Mississauga’s history. We celebrate those women while encouraging and supporting current and future generations.

Inspire Inclusion in Tech: International Women’s Day Event – Exploring Biases and Advocating Action

With the 2024 International Women’s Day global theme of #InspireInclusion, IDEA Square One is bringing together Mississauga-based leaders to share information, experiences and insights on how to cultivate workplace cultures that inspire inclusion. The highlight of the event will include engaging fireside-style panel discussions with speakers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The event will also include a continental breakfast, small business showcase and networking with an audience of entrepreneurs and business professionals passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion.

Chamber Music Performance: Solidaridad Tango with Maxime Guion

Join us for a musical performance with the Solidaridad Tango with special guest Maxime Guion. In partnership with Chamber Music Society of Mississauga.
Solidaridad Tango is North America’s original all-women, diversity-affirming tango ensemble. It was founded in 2021 by Aparna Halpé, to create fair work, professional development and performance opportunities for women tango musicians. Trained in historical tango performance practice focusing on Golden Age styles, Solidaridad is proud to present new music by women tango composers from around the world.
